Table of Contents

Image
In the magazine GuitarPlayer, the magazine creators use two pages of the magazine to include the table of contents. The magazine includes an advertisement in between the table of content pages, which is used to capture the audiences attention on a certain item. The summary is very brief for each article, as the table of contents keeps the summary of each article simple, either to the name of the musician that is being featured, or the the item that is being reviewed on. Features that seemingly repeat is that in the first table of content page, the cover musician is normally shown at the top of that table of contents. Photo credits for the other musicians included in the magazine are shown in the bottom of the table of contents, which is another feature that repeat in most magazines. The majority of artist shown are normally using the guitar in some sort of way, both performing and/or practicing.   I will try to keep the majority of these in mind wh...

Target Audience

My magazine , GuitarPlayer,  targets people that are interested in guitars and the most popular users of guitars in every genre. I can determine this because the cover includes famous guitar players such as Jimmi Hendrix to attempt to attract their audience into becoming as good as a these people in playing guitar. GuitarPlayer's mission as a publication is to inform current guitar players on how to improve, as well as trying to sell guitar brands. The magazine also wants to inform new guitar players on the history of  the guitar as well as showing many major influencers that made the guitar popular.   The magazine's purpose as a publication is mostly trying to inform people on guitars and the major influencers of the instrument, as well as attempting to sell guitars to people through the use of ads and other such methods.

Mood Board Analysis

Image
On my mood board, I put many different musical artists in the genres of rap and rock and roll. The artists I chose to put on my mood board were Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Kendrick Lamar, which happen to be some of raps heaviest influencers in its history. Other artists that I included on my mood board are Jim Morrison, The Who, and Ringo Starr.   The main focus of my mood board is music, especially rock and roll and rap. My board exemplifies this focus by including artists of each genre. My magazine will be focusing on both the genre of music now and the history of each music genre. Other focuses in the magazine will be artists and aspects of their lives having to do with music, i.e., concert experiences, life on tour, having to balance personal life and public life, etc.   I chose to focus on the colors black and red in my pictures, as I want my theme colors to be those colors as I feel both rap and rock and roll are very stylistically based off each other, ...

Genre Cover Research

Image
Genre Cover Research     In these three covers, Complex relates the cover image back to the main headline of the certain issue, which is seen more in depth in the second and third cover which include Kid Cudi and Lil Wayne, as in Cudi's magazine we can see a headline stating "Putting the pieces together" and in the Lil Wayne we see the words "Is Lil Wayne Crazy?" which is emphasized by the use of the strait jacket, showing just how "crazy" the artist is. In the Kid Cudi cover we can see a sort of puzzle effect being used, which relates back to the main headline of that issue. In the first issue shown, the contrasting colors of black and white help create a sense of conflict in the magazine, which might spur viewers to want and read it to find out what this conflict could be about.    For my magazine, I am going to be focusing on the cultural impact hip-hop has added on our society over time, from the fashion business to politics. I am goin...
